"Given my style of writing to speak directly to people's emotions, my book's title - "Touching Hearts" - ties in with the stated aim of my poetry, that of touching hearts and impacting lives for good and for God.
The book is a collection of 40 poems, grouped into the following themed sections:
What a wonderful world! - poems on the blessings of eyesight and hearing, plus the diversity and beauty of our natural world.
Very Special People - poems about people close to my own heart. Poems which, though deeply personal, yet display universal emotions. Also included is the moving “Diana, Queen of Hearts” - a poetic tribute to the late Princess Diana.
The Glory of Love - poems on the true meaning of love and friendship.
Towards a brighter future - poems expressing my heartfelt desire for a permanent peace in Northern Ireland, and covering the ups and downs in our fragile peace process, including the horror of the Omagh bombing. Also featured is the award-winning "Please, Please. Let There Be No More"
Trials to Triumphs - Overcoming Disability - poems on my disability (I have been partially sighted since birth), how my Christian faith has helped me come to terms with this, and a rallying call to other disabled people to never give up, but to believe in the valuable contribution each can make.
The Greatest Message - poems on what I firmly and resolutely believe to be the greatest and most life-changing message for mankind today - that of the love of God toward a needy world, and His provision for that need through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Fear Not, Fearful Christian - poems of encouragement and comfort to those walking the Christian pathway.
And to conclude... - a poem called "My Purpose" on the purpose behind the poetry, a few lines of which probably sum up better than any other why I write: - "I may ne'er be read by millions, or be a household name, Yet my driving motive is neither fortune nor fame, For each home I might reach, and each heart I might touch Is to me an achievement meaning so very much.”
